It was a great pleasure hosting Dr. William D. Phillips, Nobel Laureate in Physics, during UKC 2026. We had a wonderful conversation about his research and experiences working with lasers, as well as the importance of laboratory safety. Our discussion reminded me once again of the important role a PI plays in maintaining a safe and responsible environment in an experimental lab. Thank you, Dr. Phillips, for the inspiring conversation, encouragement, and valuable insights.
I met with Hunter at Sushi Nami to discuss future research directions and long-term goals for the lab. It was a very enjoyable conversation, and I am excited to work with such a motivated student. Also, congratulations to Hunter on being awarded the Distinguished Graduate Student Assistantships (DGSA) fellowship at Texas Tech University.
